David Wilson, BA, MSc is a retired ADF officer with 47 years of service and a lifelong interest in all periods of military history. His main area of expertise is WWI and the Anzac campaigns at Gallipoli and the Western Front where he has been a battlefield guide and historian since 2006. He is the author of the regimental history of the 19th Battalion, AIF. David is a fully accredited member of the Guild of Battlefield Guides, an international guiding organisation based in the UK. He is also the Principal of AIF Research Services, a facility which specialises in the interpretation of WWI service records for family research. David has been lecturing in a variety of military history topics at WEA for the past five years. He makes each presentation as close as possible to a battlefield tour where he discusses the ground, weapons, tactics and most importantly leadership on both sides of any battle scenario. David's belief is that many military actions are shrouded in popular, often misguided myths that need to be clarified - his aim is to present an engaging, balanced and factual analysis so that students can draw their own conclusions to the events being portrayed.
