Stretching across Brazil, Bolivia and Paraguay - where Brazil claims most of the region - the Pantanal is a natural region characterised by vast savannah, rivers, lakes, and marshes. It encompasses the world’s largest tropical wetland, which is declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and considered the paradise for animal lovers. The Pantanal is home to an incredible variety of wildlife, not limited only to birdlife, including jaguars, caimans, giant river otters, and many others. The region is also inhabited by indigenous communities, local ranchers, and tourism operators, making it a popular destination for ecotourism.
