Western art music is an international phenomenon that has significantly shaped the development of music historically and globally. Originating in Europe and reflecting its social and cultural history, the genre has extended its influence on the Americas, Oceania, Asia and beyond. This lecture-concert highlights the key features of Western art music in Europe from the Middle Ages to the present, featuring musical performances of works from each period and various European regions on the flute.
