Regardless of whether a text is fiction or creative non-fiction, an engaging story has several components that each work together to create an authentic and enjoyable experience for the reader. There’s the length of the work, its plot, setting, main characters and the purpose behind the story. What truly ties each of these elements together, however, is the narration – that all-important voice who guides the reader through the text. Discover the art of storytelling and the different ways of creating an engaging narrative voice, from the power of perspective to the ‘Show, Don’t Tell’ technique. Please ensure you bring a pen and paper or a device to type with.
