The enigmatic Easter Island is one of the most isolated islands on Earth. Located over 3,700 km from the Chilean coast, this remote volcanic island is an archaeological treasure that has puzzled scientists, archaeologists, and historians alike for generations with the mysteries surrounding its colossal stone moai, which are the lasting legacy of this ancient society. About 42% of the island is a National Park, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1995. Nowadays, the Rapa Nui people (the indigenous name), who have strong Polynesian roots, are proud to keep their language, music, dance, and countless traditions alive.
