An ancient kingdom, Scotland is now part of the United Kingdom and has been ruled from London for over 300 years. The cause of Scottish independence was buoyed by devolution and the creation of the Scottish Parliament in 1999; but, it has drifted since independence was rejected in the 2014 Referendum. In the past 10 years, the Scottish National Party (SNP), the most vocal advocate for independence, has been enmeshed in a series of scandals. What does all this, and the outcome of the general election in July, mean for the future of Scottish Independence?
