...Eastertide, the major festival of the Christian Church, has always inspired magnificent music and art, both sacred and secular. Come and enjoy this varied selection of great celebratory music by composers from the Renaissance to the 19th century: Orlando di Lasso, Peter Philips, Couperin, Handel, Bach, Mozart, and Tchaikovsky, complemented by the art of Dürer, Bruegel, Caravaggio, Rembrandt, Velazquez, de la Fosse, their contemporaries and predecessors, including late Roman mosaics from Ravenna. The music will consist of instrumental and vocal works – motets, as well as symphonies, arias and choruses from Easter oratorios and cantatas.
