...We explore the more “extreme” lands of the Nordic Region: Iceland, Faroe Islands, Svalbard and Greenland. This region is fascinating both in terms of the diversity of landscape and cultures. Although most inhabitants can trace their origins to the Vikings and speak languages related to Old Norse, the Finns and the Sami people speak Uralic languages. The region is characterised by a diverse and spectacular landscape (glaciers, waterfalls and forests). Furthermore, Svalbard is a suitable home to the World Seed Bank, given its remote location for security and the climate for preservation.
