The Baroque Period started in about 1600 but finished in 1750, the year of Bach’s death. It is the period in which music begins to sound ‘modern’. This series investigates many of the reasons for this modern sound, including instrument development, musical notation, stylistic changes, and musical forms. It is also a period where incredible composers, Monteverdi, Purcell, Vivaldi, Rameau, Lully, Bach, Handel etc wrote far-reaching, ground breaking compositions some of which will be analysed.
