During 1788, Governor Arthur Phillip reconnoitred several places before choosing the settlement of Rose Hill (Parramatta) as the most likely place for a successful large farm. Parramatta Road is one of Sydney's oldest thoroughfares and Australia's first main road joining the two settlements. We travel from Sydney Town to the colony’s second oldest settlement - Parramatta.
