Knowing how to structure, develop and pace the plot for an engaging narrative can be a tricky task to master. There’s the issue of deciding on the overall purpose of the story and the message for the reader. Then there’s the matter of working out the key players involved, including the main character and any secondary (or even tertiary) characters. Each of these elements, let alone the story’s climax, will also be determined by the length and genre of the narrative itself. Discover the different ways of creating an engaging and authentic plot for your writing.

DELIVERY MODE

  • Face-to-Face

COURSE OUTLINE

  • Looking at some of the theories on plot development in creative writing
  • Understanding how the genre and length of the narrative will impact the level of detail provided to the reader
  • Differentiating between the needs of each genre and how some of these will influence the pace and structure of the story
  • Importance of objective feedback and using it to improve each draft
