This dynamic course explores the impact of User-Generated Content (UGC) on the modern media landscape, from its origins to its influence on news and social media. Participants will gain insight into the unique characteristics of popular social media platforms and how content varies across them. Practical sessions will provide valuable skills in creating engaging, authentic digital content. By the end of the course, participants will have developed the confidence and skills to craft compelling UGC that resonates with audiences. Participants will need access to a digital device (laptop, smartphone, or tablet) with internet connectivity for creating and publishing content as well as social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X, TikTok, YouTube) for practice in content creation and sharing. For the content creation tools, participants will be using Canva and CapCut, which we encourage you to download these apps once this course has been confirmed to proceed, but assistance will also be provided for those who need help downloading them during the course.
